Patron Saint for the eyes. Devotion to this Sicilian saint can be traced back to the 4th century, she is honored in the canon of the Mass as one of the chief virgin martyrs. As the name, Lucy, derives from 'lux' or 'light', she has become associated with festivals of light & with invocations against afflections of the sight. Additions to her legend occurred in which she was blinded by her persecutors, and the church of San Giovanni Maggiore at Naples even claims to possess her eyes.- Donation -
